TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

Traveling by train is another popular option for those wanting to travel from Hoi An to Hue -although those wanting to take this option will be required to travel into Danang first, as there is no train station in Hoi An. Traveling by the local bus to Danang is only 20,000VND ($1USD), although taking up to 90 minutes. Traveling by taxi will be around 300,000VND ($15USD) and will take just 45 minutes. If you have spare time throughout your journey, this is a great way to travel from Hoi An to Hue!
The train is the preferred option for travelers wanting to experience the beautiful scenery Central Vietnam has to offer, as it takes a route separate to the road in which the bus takes, Highway 1. The train ride from Danang to Hue is fantastic for some photo opportunities, as well as having the chance to rub shoulders with the locals and witness some of the rural living along the way.
How to book: Similar to the bus, you can book train tickets either through your hotel or a tourism office. Nowadays however, it is just as easy to book online.
Cost: Tickets for the train from Hoi An to Hue and vice versa are generally begin at 60,000VND ($3USD). This is for a hard seat with no air-conditioning. Prices go up from there for a soft seat or a bed inside a cabin, depending on your travel preference!
Tip: Trains leave for Hue city almost hourly, apart from some schedule changes. If you want to visit Danang during the day and do sightseeing or go to the beach, it’s a great option to get the mid-afternoon train to Hue! These times will also typically have less passengers.

TRAVELING FROM HOI AN TO HUE BY MOTORBIKE

This trip will take longer than the other options, as motorbikes cannot pass through the tunnel and will have to go via the Hai Van Pass. One of the greatest coastal roads in the world”. Traveling by motorbike to Hue can be done either by renting or buying a motorbike in Vietnam or with an organized group tour. Both options are fantastic and based on your level of experience and whether you want to travel on your own terms or not, you can decide from there.
How to book: Most hotels will offer motorbike services, either to rent or in an organized group tour. Motorbike tour itineraries may vary so make sure you are knowledgeable on which destinations you would like to visit when traveling from Hoi An to Hue.
